The forthcoming FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2010 could help to boost the state’s tourism levels.

Starting on December 8th and finishing on December 18th, the football competition is being hosted by Abu Dhabi but many spectators are expected to stay in Dubai hotels, according to an airline that offers flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Dubai is around 90 minutes away from the Zayed Sports City and Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium, where all of the games of the tournament will be played.

Russell Sheldon, senior vice-president of network passenger sales development at Emirates Airline, explained: “The world’s best football players are coming to Abu Dhabi next month.

“With accommodations in Dubai and the matches taking place in Abu Dhabi, visitors will have a chance to explore these two stunning destinations.”

This year’s tournament features seven teams including Al-Wahda Sports Club and TP Mazembe Englebert.
