The star said he had based the designs on the courses of Melbourne, Australia and that coming up with it had been more difficult than he thought.

“I want this to be an oasis, an escape from the city. As everyone knows, Dubai has grown quite a bit and this will be a place to get away from the hustle and the bustle of the city,” he remarked.

It will be part of Dubailand, a development that could compete with Disneyworld in Florida, officials hope.

Abdulla Al Gurg, project director at Tiger Woods Dubai, said that the golf club will be accessible to guests of the resort’s boutique hotel and that demand has already been high.

Last month, figures from DCTM showed that of the one million people going on flights to Dubai from the UK last year, two-thirds say they plan to return soon, reported the Financial Times.
