People going on holidays to Dubai next month may wish to pay a visit to an aquarium with the world’s largest viewing panel.

The Dubai Mall is to unveil the new Aquarium and Discovery Centre, which will allow visitors to experience life under the sea thanks to a 270-degree walk-through tunnel.

The viewing panel will measure 32.8 metres long and will contain over 33,000 animals, including sand tiger sharks and spotted eagle rays.

It will also feature built-in lights in order to provide lunar light shows to tourists.

Yousif Al Ali, general manager of the Dubai Mall, said: “Apart from showcasing one of the most diverse collections of marine life worldwide, Dubai Aquarium and Discovery centre greatly enhances the overall mall experience for visitors.”

The animals’ health and food intake will be monitored using state-of-the-art Bluetooth technology in order to provide them with the best environment possible.

Earlier this month, Business Intelligence Middle East reported that biologists from the new Atlantis, The Palm resort had rescued a stranded whale shark off the coast of Dubai.
