A new spa experience that is based on Middle Eastern treatments has been launched at a Marriott hotel in Dubai.

Officially opened this month, the Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites Saray Spa aims to mix together traditional treatments with modern relaxing surroundings.

“We are very excited to introduce Saray to Marriott’s growing spa portfolio,” said Sharilyn Abbajay, vice-president of Spa for Marriott International.

“Our hotels worldwide now have an option of incorporating a spa that is culturally relevant and unique into their guests’ visit. The heart of Saray features the traditional Hammam, which for centuries have been used in the region as gathering places to cleanse and nurture.”

Guests taking flights to Dubai and staying in the Marriott establishment can choose from a wide array of spa treatments including massages with traditional elements such as olive oil, sandalwood and mint.

Marriot International is planning to increase its worldwide spa portfolio by 90 properties by 2013.
