Dubai could soon be home to a series of new green spaces to be created between the state’s soaring skyscrapers.

Dubai may be known for its soaring skyscrapers and its innovative architecture, but it is hoped the state will also soon be recognised for the beautiful green spaces that are found there.

A series of plans have been announced which may see the state boasting an amazing park which will turn the existing Shaikh Zayed Road into a stretch of parkland instead.

The plans are very hi-tech and would see a layer of greenery being built over the top using water-proof concrete and climate control spaces.

Published in the magazine Brownbook, Jack Taylor, special projects manager, said: “The space could be used for different purposes – a mix of open spaces, parks, recreational facilities and retail areas.”

He added it would help to bridge the eastern and western sides of the road, as well as retaining its status as a grand boulevard in the emirate.

The road runs parallel to the coastline and is home to many of the most impressive buildings in the city, including the Emirates Towers and the Burj Khalifa.
