The World Trade Centre in Dubai (DWTC) has been given a prestigious award at a recent ceremony, in what could be good news for employers booking flights to Dubai for business purposes.

According to Trade Arabia, the centre was recognised as the Leading Conference Centre at the Middle East World Travel Awards held in the Emirate city. This could be due to its 96,000 square metres of event space and the fact that its profile has been raised thanks to its hosting of the Gulfood and Arabian Travel Market shows.

Helal Saeed Almarri, chief executive of DWTC, said: “DWTC will be strategically focused on increasing the long-term economic impact of this sector to enhance the company’s positive contribution to Dubai’s GDP.”

The Guardian last month quoted Sol Kerzner, chairman and chief executive of Kerzner International, as telling Reuters that Dubai will continue to be one of the world’s favourite holiday destinations thanks to its climate and range of exciting attractions.
