Dubai is to lay on additional transport links over new year to accommodate the high volume of people.

Travellers taking flights to Dubai in order to attend the emirate’s New Year’s Eve celebrations could find it is easy to travel about, thanks to additional transport being laid on.

The state’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that in order to make it as easy as possible for people to travel to and from the many events which will be happening around Dubai, it will be running a non-stop Metro service.

In addition, there will also be an increase in the number of buses and taxis that are in operation.

“We took this decision to streamline the traffic and ease the flow of people to and from the main centre of celebrations, which is Burj Khalifa,” said Ramadan Abdullah, director of Metro operations at the RTA.

There have been a lot of people taking flights to Dubai in order to live there over the past year, with the emirate reporting its population has passed two million for the first time.
