Holidays in Dubai and Egypt are getting cheaper according to a recent survey by the Post Office.

For a great value summer holiday, Brits should consider booking flights to Egypt or Dubai, as these mid-haul destinations offer more for your money this year.

This is according to the findings of the 2011 Post Office Holiday Costs Barometer, which weighs up the relative price of a basket of goods and services, including a meal out for two, drinks and suncream.

The strength of sterling against the Egyptian pound means that these items will cost you 13.7 per cent less in Egypt this year, the survey found.

Furthermore, the UAE city of Dubai, which is often considered to be an elite playboy destination, is also cheaper for Brits this year – 7.3 per cent cheaper to be precise.

Sarah Munro, head of travel money at the Post Office, said: “The eastern Mediterranean looks a good choice all-round as prices have fallen significantly.”

Brits looking to book flights to Dubai can travel directly from London to the UAE city with airlines such as Virgin Atlantic, Emirates and Continental.
