Viral video wins Dubai Airports an award
Dubai Airports has won Best Use of a Social Media Platform at the Travel and Leisure Social Media in Travel and Tourism Awards (Smittys).
The business scored success with the flash mob it conducted at Dubai International airport to promote the DXB Connect airport prepaid card, which has been viewed 2.7 million times on YouTube.
It also has a fast-growing social media presence, with its Facebook page attracting over 400,000 views and its twitter feed followed by 8,000 people.
Commenting on the achievement, Paul Griffiths, chief executive officer of Dubai Airports, said: “It is the first major international recognition for our efforts to utilise social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, which are increasingly important to connect with our customers.”
The Smittys also recognise the Best Single Promotion through Social Media and the Best Promotion of Travel Deals, which are open to 14 company categories including hotels, airports, airlines, cruise lines and tour operators.
