Fans of Hollywood actor Tom Cruise may wish to book holidays to Dubai in order to catch a glimpse of the Top Gun star for the New Year.

According to reports from US TV news show Extra, Cruise and his wife Katie Holmes are to ring in 2009 at a star-studded party in the new Atlantis hotel resort.

The 1,539-room hotel is situated on the man-made Palm Jumeirah Island and is one of the most extravagant feats of engineering the emirate has seen yet.

It opened to the public on September 24th and includes a range of attractions, including the Leap of Faith water slide, which drops people 27.5 metres before sending them through a transparent tunnel inside a shark-filled aquarium.

Those staying in the hotel’s Lost Chamber are lucky enough to have undersea views into the Ambassador Lagoon, home to tropical fish and rays.

Anyone going on holidays to Dubai may wish to book flights with Emirates.
