People visiting Melbourne in September, October or November will be able to enjoy the Spring Racing Carnival.

Those who have booked cheap flights to Melbourne for September will have the chance to attend the Spring Racing Carnival.

The festival starts in September, but does not end until mid-November.

Racecourses across the state of Victoria will host events, with Flemington Racecourse staging for big-name race days including Derby Day, the Melbourne Cup and Oaks Day.

The Melbourne Cup, which is the biggest event of the carnival, will take place on the first Tuesday in November.

This day is a public holiday for those living in Melbourne, enabling them to enjoy the fun of the festival and watch the race at 15:00 (local time).

“During the race you can suspend your decorum and join the rest of Australia in cheering and punching the air,” a statement on Australia.com reads.

Last month, Tourism Queensland handed out tips to job-seeking backpackers in a bid to attract young travellers to the Australian state, which is north of Victoria.
