The second YouTube Symphony Orchestra is being supported by Tourism Australia for its trip down-under in 2011.Last year, the event saw 90 musicians from 30 countries play a sold-out performance at New York’s Carnagie Hall. An estimated 25 million people viewed the special concert via the Symphony channel.

The YouTube Symphony Orchestra 2011 project will include online auditions, with the successful candidates being invited to take flights to Australia for a week of rehearsals and workshops.

Auditions close on November 28th and the winners will be announced on January 11th.

Sydney Opera House will host the final concert on March 20th 2011, with the performance being conducted by the Grammy Award winner Michael Tilson Thomas.

Listed as a World Heritage Site in 2007, the Sydney Opera House was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1973 and is a major attraction for tourists taking flights to Australia.
