Crown want to build the ‘world’s best hotel’ in Sydney.
The bright lights of casinos and terms such as river card and high roller are usually associated with Las Vagas, but Australia could be about to eclipse its northern hemisphere counterpart if one gambling billionaire gets his way.
James Packer has pledged to build the world’s best hotel in Sydney if he gets approval to include a high-end casino in it.
Mr Packer, the executive chairman of casinos operator Crown Ltd, said the company wants to build the new attraction at Barangaroo South and that the development would bring millions more tourists to Sydney and create thousands of new jobs for the locals.
This could mean the Sydney harbour area would have another iconic moment to stand alongside its Opera House and Bridge.
Mr Packer said in a statement: “Sydney deserves one of the world’s great hotels on its magnificent harbour,” adding that the gambling would be for VIPs only.
