Sydney Fashion Week will be moving from its traditional slot to the last week in March.

Sydney Fashion Week is set to take place earlier in the year as it will be moved to the end of March from May.

The celebration of Australian fashion normally takes place during May but as of next year it will be hosted in March for the first time in its 17-year history.

This year, the event ended on May 4th and saw brands including Carl Kapp and Akira showcasing their latest collections.

Organisers IMG Fashion has announced the change and stated the show has been moved to coincide with the Premiere trade show being hosted in the city.

The date change is an important evolution of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia to ensure we are maximizing business opportunities for the industry,” said Peter Levy, the company’s worldwide fashion events and properties managing director.

However, the move has upset some people as it will now clash with the Melbourne Fashion Festival.
