A new driving route launched by Tourism Victoria could be ideal for those going on driving holidays in Australia, it has been suggested.

Called Melbourne’s Southeast Touring Triangle, it links the city to the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula and Philip Island and incorporates a variety of different scenery and attractions.

Those following the route can take journeys of varying lengths in order to make the best of their time Down Under and can visit one of 100 wineries in the Yarra Valley, as well as spotting penguins on Philip Island or going on a hot air balloon ride further down the trail.

“[The touring triangle brings] together some of the very best experiences a visitor can have in Australia’s most compact and diverse state,” said Tourism Victoria.

The Yarra Valley’s relatively cool climate makes it ideal for the production of high-quality chardonnay and pinot noir, as well as premium sparkling wine, according to the Wine Library.
