The Incredible Hulk star Eric Bana has recently been announced as the ambassador for the Melbourne International Film Festival, which will run from July 25th to August 10th.

Bana, a native Melburnian, will head a list of award-winning celebrities signed up to provide some glamour to the festival, which is set to include ten world film premieres.

“It’s my home town’s film festival and it’s much closer than Cannes, Toronto or Sundance,” he joked to Tourism Victoria.

Meanwhile, Melbourne seems to be the place for movie star spotting, since Speed actor Keanu Reeves was also spotted in the vicinity to promote a forthcoming project.

He dined at Donovan’s restaurant in St Kilda amid rumours that he may be about to film a sequel to 1991 crime flick Point Break, the finale of which was shot on location in Melbourne.

Melbourne is the second most populous city in Australia, being home to around 3.8 million people in 2007.

Located around Port Phillip Bay in Australia’s south-east, the city is the state capital of Victoria.
