The annual Melbourne International Comedy Festival has begun in the city, with a host of performers set to take to the stage.

The world’s top performers are heading to Australia in order to take part in this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Beginning in the city tomorrow (March 28th 2012), the comedy showcase will run through to April 22nd and will see more than 400 shows being staged at locations around the city.

Australian acts are to be well represented at the festival, with established and emerging acts ranging from Ben Lomas to Dave O’Neill and Kirsten Law all on the line-up.

As well as seeing a number of up and coming stars performing, there are also a number of British performers heading to the city, including Dave Gorman, Simon Amstell and Stephen K Amos.

It could also be a great chance to see emerging talents before they have even left school as the Class Clowns showcase aimed at students in years nine to 12 is held to coincide with the festival.
