Anyone going on holidays to Australia in the New Year should pay a visit to Sydney if they can, in order to experience the city’s annual festival.

The event is set to take place between January 10th and 31st and will feature music concerts, plays, film screenings, dance shows and much more.

Nathan Rees, the premier of New South Wales, said that last year’s opening night saw 200,000 people take to the streets in a carnival-style atmosphere.

“Sydney Festival is now one of Australia’s biggest annual cultural celebrations and something we can all be very proud of. I’m especially pleased to see key events planned for families in Western Sydney,” he added.

Cate Blanchett, Santogold and Grace Jones are among the acts performing in this year’s event.

Australia recently ranked top in a poll to find the world’s biggest ‘country brands’, indicating that it is successfully appealing to a wide range and large number of tourists.
