Australia is set to host a huge national garage sale this weekend, with events taking place around the country.

Bargain hunters in Australia could feel spoilt for choice this weekend as the country is set to host a huge garage sale.

The Garage Sale Trail is a massive community and sustainability event that encourages people to look through the items they no longer want and offer them up for sale.

While small events like this happen every weekend, on May 5th the mass event takes place, with people in cities around the country taking part.

It is not just private households that are invited to get involved, as local businesses, schools and creators are welcome to take part.

Participants register with the organisers to join in with the fun and the group has stated that there will be 535,541 items for sale, with 6,030 tonnes of products being saved from going to the tip.

Sydney-based fashion designer Marine Skillings is among those who has pledged to take part and explained that in order to get a bargain it is best to appear casual so the seller does not realise how excited you are.
