Cape Town is looking forward to hosting a production of Swan Lake later this month.

Travellers on flights to Cape Town could decide to take in a performance of Swan Lake during their visit as some of the world’s best dancers are set to take part in a production.

The Artscape Opera House is set to play host to the iconic ballet, which opens at the venue on August 19th 2011.

It will then run until August 26th, with director Elizabeth Triegaart producing her interpretation on Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece.

The Cape Philharmonic Orchestra will be accompanying the dancers, with special guests Daria Klimentova and her partner Vadim Muntagirov at selected performances.

Prima ballerina with the English National Ballet, Klimentova is also in the city to attend the awarding of this year’s Prague Scholarship, which will see the winning dancers take part in a two-week masterclass in the Czech capital.

People on flights to Cape Town who are planning to include a visit to Pretoria into their stay could also choose to visit the Jazz and African Music Nights event in the city.
