A holiday to South Africa offers more than football, according to an Australian writer.

South Africa has plenty to offer holidaymakers beyond this summer’s  hotly-anticipated World Cup, according to an Australian travel writer.

Graham Boynton of the Sydney Morning Herald commented that the country has several unique experiences to offer holidaymakers – including wine-tasting excursions on horseback and golfing on the main Signature course at the Legend Golf & Safari Resort.

People catching a cheap flight to South Africa will not want to miss out on catching a glimpse of the country’s famed wildlife. Mr Boynton suggested Kruger National Park – with its herds of buffalo and elephants, as well as big cats such as lions and leopards – is one destination worth considering, as it offers game drives.

Wine lovers are likely to find something worth sampling at the L’Ormarins winery in Franschhoek – which not only offers a range of wines, but also hosts the Franschhoek Motor Museum and is the site of a stud farm that is sure to appeal to horse-lovers from all over the world.

Those who book their flights to and from Cape Town will have the opportunity to visit the city’s award-winning airport.

A total of two gongs were handed out to the facility in the recent Skyrax World Airport Awards, including airport staff service excellence and best airport in Africa.
