India is planning to launch direct flights to Nigeria to delight passengers willing to traverse the route. It will not only be the nationals of these two countries, but also the global travellers from different nations whom these flights will benefit

Airlines may soon be able to operate non stop flights between India and Nigeria.

The authorities of the two countries are negotiating to renew an agreement to start these direct flights. The move will not only strengthen the ties between the two nations, but will also delight the travellers from these countries as well as from other nations who would have added options available on the route.

These flights are also seen as a wonderful option especially for medical tourists who often look for direct flights for swift and convenient travel. India is a highly popular medical tourism destination in the world. A large number of Nigerians take flights to India every year for availing better medical facilities.

Sources revealed that India issued around 33,000 visas to Nigerians on flights to India in the year 2011.

At present, there is no direct flight service between the destinations and passengers travelling between India and the popular African country need to book hopping flights with stopovers at destinations like United Arab Emirate or Ethiopia. Non-stop flights are expected to offer convenient travel option between the two countries for business, pleasure, medical and other travel interests.

Earlier in 2005, Bellview Airline launched a non-stop flight from Lagos (Nigeria) to Mumbai (India). However, the airline was grounded after one of its flights crashed.

If the claims by Indian authorities are anything to go by, flights between Nigeria and India may very soon see the light of the morning.
