Maldives-based airline, Maldivian will launch flights between Male and India’s capital from April or May 2013. Initially, three flights in a week connecting the two destinations will be offered to tickets seekers.

Maldivian to Commence Maldives Delhi Flights Travellers seeking air tickets deals on flights between India and Maldives will now have another alternative at their hands as Maldivian, the national airline of Maldives, plans to initiate direct flights services between India’s capital, Delhi and Maldives’ capital, Male.

Bandhu Ibrahim Saleem, the airline’s chairman, said the flights between the two destinations will start from April or May of the next year.

“Maldivian will receive its second Airbus A-320 in March or April next year, which will be used to operate cheap flights to Delhi. Initially, the airline will operate three flights a week to Delhi. In October next, when the third Airbus 320 aircraft arrives, we will look to increase the frequency of flights to cities where the airline operates,” the chairman was quoted in The Hindu, leading English daily in India.

The carrier is also scheduled to launch three-times-a-week flights to Mumbai and Chennai from Male in mid-November 2012. The carrier is hoping that by augmenting the number of connections between India and Maldives, more number of Indians would be encouraged to purchase cheap tickets for the island nation. Even European vacationers seeking tickets for connecting flights to the island after landing in India can look forward to these flights launches as Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai are all popular gateways for foreign tourists seeking tickets for further travel.

Currently, Maldivian is offering tickets on flights connecting Male and Thiruvananthapuram, a city in South India.
