Qatar Airways has launched flights to Goa as part of its continued programme of route expansions.

Holidaymakers booking flights to India may be interested to know that Qatar Airways has launched a new route from Doha to Goa.

The carrier offers connections from a number of UK cities, including London, Edinburgh and Manchester.

The new non-stop route is part of the airline’s continued expansion programme. Two weeks ago, it launched its first flights to the Indian city of Amritsar.

Akbar Al Baker, chief executive officer of Qatar Airways, said: “European holidaymakers have traditionally flown with seasonal charter operators to Goa, but with our new scheduled service, we are offering a unique year-round alternative.”

He also stressed the airline’s commitment to the new route, saying that he expected new route to be successful, especially as the winter holiday season in Europe is just beginning.

Qatar Airways now flies to ten destinations in India from its hub in Doha, including Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

The company is also set to expand into the Australian market, with its first flight scheduled to touch down in Melbourne on December 6th 2009.
