Etihad is aiming to operate more flights to India in the future.

Etihad is looking to expand its global reach even further by adding more flights to India in the future.

It will mean that tourists looking to embark on a luxury holiday to the country, which is fast becoming a very popular tourism hotspot, will be able to start relaxing from the moment they step foot on the plane.

Chief executive James Hogan confirmed to Reuters that the official carrier of Abu Dhabi will work to secure more airline stakes in India.

“Possibly one or two [partnerships] more and that will be it, he stated, adding that the company has already been receiving offers from India Airlines.

Etihad has recently struck deals with both Air Berlin and Virgin Australia and is now looking for growth in Asia.

The opportunities in India have arisen after the country’s government decided the time was right to sell 40 per cent of its stakes in local carriers.
