British travellers like to head away with their family more than their friends.

 Travellers booking flights to Egypt and other locations could be planning to head away with their families after this kind of break was found to be the most popular among Brits.

A study of consumers carried out by Abta – the travel association found that 42 per cent of people like to take time away with the members of their family, while 35 per cent said their idea trip is with their partner.

Taking a trip with friends was top for 16 per cent of people, while just nine per cent stated that they like to holiday alone.

Heading away on a beach break was revealed as the holiday which 37 per cent of people enjoy the most, with city trips also ranking highly.

Mark Tanzer, Abta chief executive, said: “Our customers’ ideal holiday choices are incredibly wide and varied and our survey gives a fascinating insight into what they like to do and who they like to share their ideal holiday experiences with.”

Holidaymakers heading on flights to Egypt could be pleased to hear that the Post Office recently found the country to be one of the most affordable travel locations.
