Dubai Gold Souk is a treasure trove waiting to be discovered.

Brits on flights to Dubai with a soft spot for gold should make their way to the gold markets of Dubai.

Dubai Gold Souk is located at the core of the commercial business district in Deira.

There are fundamentally two markets, one known as the old gold souk and one known as the new.

The new market is a two-storey building and the old one is an area “scattered” with jewellery shops.

Approximately 300 retailers trade at the market. These include well established stores like Damas, Joy Alukkas Jewellery and ARY Jewellery.

It is a sight to behold, a “sea of gold” that has shop windows showcasing somewhere in the region of 25 tonnes of gold at any given time.

The selection of jewellery is amazing, from gold chains to bracelets to earrings and gold bars to name but a few.

Moreover, people will be surprised to find that “gold isn’t the only colour of gold” as there are variations with such colours as pink, yellow, white and purple.
