Anyone taking flights to Dubai this week could find themselves on the same plane as a number of tennis stars.

Tennis stars are heading to Dubai this week in anticipation of the  Dubai Tennis Championships, which begins on Sunday (February 14th).

People who are on holidays to Dubai may want to head down to the courts at the Dubai Tennis Stadium to catch some of the action, which will feature some of the game’s best-known players.

Fresh from his win at the Australian Open, world number one Roger Federer will be a top contender in the men’s field, which also includes Britain’s Andy Murray and former US Open winner Andy Roddick.

The women’s tournament also features some big names, with Serena Williams seeded number one and sister Venus taking the fifth seeded spot.

All the action gets underway on Friday February 12th with the women’s qualifying rounds before the main event the following week.

Contenders in the men’s game will take to the courts from Saturday February 20th, with the final set to be played out on February 27th.
