Qatar Airways has announced that it is to implement a new menu for its economy class customers, complete with a revamped presentation style that is also friendly to the environment.

All meals will now be served in recyclable cartons, while travellers will benefit from authentic Arabic meals on their flights.

The mouth-watering offerings are to include Malaysian chicken curry, fish and fennel pot pie and Indian style kadi pakora.

Qatar Airways chief executive officer Akbar Al Baker said that presentation can have a huge effect on a customer’s enjoyment of their in-flight meal.

“With this in mind, our new look meal trays are guaranteed to satisfy passenger tastebuds across the economy class cabin,” he added.

Qatar Airways will operate a fleet of 110 aircraft by 2013, almost double the existing size.

It is based in Dubai and is among the only six airlines awarded a prestigious five-star rating by Skytrax.
