The Dubai World Central has been announced as the new location for the Dubai Airshow.

Travellers heading on flights to Dubai to attend the annual airshow will have to make a note of a change of location from next year onwards.

The Dubai Airshow will be held at the Dubai World Central from 2013, Shaikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of the Dubai Aviation City Corporation, has announced.

As a result of the change, one billion United Arab Emirates dirhams (£172.5 million) have been allocated to fund the project.

“Dubai World Central is an integral component of the strategic vision of Dubai government to establish the emirate as an international aviation hub and a gateway to global markets,” Sheik Ahmed said.

He added that the move represents Dubai’s commitment to meet the growing demands of industry.

A range of cultural events could attract more people to take flights to Dubai soon, after it was announced at least ten new museums are scheduled to open by 2015.
