Travellers departing from Scottish airports are reaping the benefits of the services Emirates Airlines offers, including flights to Dubai, it has been reported.

According to the Press and Journal, the carrier – which introduced its routes in 2004 – is the only airline to offer long-haul flights east from Scotland.

Passengers can fly economy or business class directly to Dubai, where they can then get transfers to connecting services, including flights to Australia.

Emirates’ manager for UK north and Scotland Laurie Berryman said: “We have been thrilled with the success of our service and how enthusiastically it has been received by both business and leisure passengers across Scotland.”

He added that the carrier plans to add more new routes as passenger numbers have now passed the half-million mark and demand is continuing to grow.

In related news, it has been revealed that Emirates Airlines has won the accolade of best in-flight entertainment in the world (large airlines) at World Airline Entertainment Association’s Avion Awards in California.
