Dubai is to be the host of the forthcoming Beach Soccer Cup.

Fans of beach football could be looking to plan flights to Dubai later this month after the emirate was named as the host of the Beach Soccer Cup.

The region will host the inaugural Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup at the The Walk in the Jumeirah Beach Residence between November 22nd and 26th.

In total, eight teams will compete, travelling from Brazil, Oman, Russia, Nigeria, Tahiti, Switzerland and Mexico, with the host nation also being represented by a squad.

Dubai hosted the Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup in 2009.

Commenting on the news, Joan Cusco, chief executive officer of Beach Soccer Worldwide, said: “Even though the event is smaller (than the World Cup) the potential is bigger and I want this event to be a celebration of the World Cup success.”

Travellers heading on flights to Dubai to watch the event could take advantage of the DBX Connect card, which can be used on purchases in the terminal.
