Dubai Summer Surprises is taking place this year between June 11th and August 14th and is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors.

Describing the event, Laila Suhail, chief executive of organiser Dubai Shopping Festival, told Gulf News: “Dubai Summer Surprises is not just an event but an opportunity for visitors to have a unique experience in Dubai.”

It was launched in 1998 and is supported by regional and local businesses and government departments.

Run under the slogan Surprising Dubai, the 2009 event is the largest summer and shopping entertainment event in the region, according to the news source.

The festival offers a range of activities and shopping promotions appealing to all age groups, those booking flights to Dubai may be interested to note.

Signature events over the 65 days of Dubai Summer Surprises 2009 include World of Stories, Arts Oasis, Sheila and Abaya Fashion, the Collectors, Kids Olympic Games, and a photography exhibition.
