Abu Dhabi is now only 100 days away from hosting the Volvo Ocean Race, which will see dozens of yachts arrive at the emirate.

People planning to head away on flights to Abu Dhabi early next year to see the Volvo Ocean Race could be happy to hear the emirate is finalising some of its preparations.

The tourism authority for the nation has announced that it has completed work on its Destination Village with exactly 100 days to go before the first of the yachts starts to arrive.

It is thought that as many as 100,000 fans of sailing will join the impressive craft and their crew at the village from December 31st 2011 to January 14th 2012 as they make their third stopover on their race.

A range of activities and entertainment zones are also set to be created in the area, which will be free to enter.

Another new attraction which people on flights to Abu Dhabi could enjoy in the coming months is a flea market at the Sheraton Hotel, which was recently held for the first time.
