Sydney will welcome iconic golfer Tiger Woods later this year.

Golf enthusiasts taking cheap flights to Sydney to enjoy the Australian Open look set to see former world number one Tiger Woods in action.

The player has struggled with injuries and form since revelations regarding his private life caused a media sensation in 2009.

But Woods will attempt to put all that behind him when he hits the links for the Australian Open, which takes place from November 10th to 13th.

“There is no doubt whatsoever, it will be one of the best fields ever assembled for an Australian Open Championship and there are still major player announcements to be made over the coming weeks,” said Golf Australia chief executive Stephen Pitt.

Woods was the highest paid sportsman in the world in 2010 and has won 14 Majors during his career, making him the second-most successful player in history behind Jack Nicklaus.

He is due to make a long-awaited comeback from injury at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in Ohio this week.
