People taking holidays to Australia this month could be interested to know that an international tennis tournament is taking place in Sydney.

Anyone who has booked flights to Sydney this week may want to pay  a visit to the Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre to watch some of the stars of the game battle it out in the Medibank International event.

The tournament will feature big names from both the men’s and women’s games.

Justine Henin, Jelena Jankovic and Serena Williams are all confirmed in the women’s draw, while the men’s field includes local favourite Lleyton Hewitt as well as Marcos Baghdatis and Richard Gasquet.

All the action will begin on January 10th, with the finals due to be held the following Sunday on January 17th.

Tickets for the event are still available through the official website for any sport’s fans who want to spend a day courtside.

At the end of the month, tennis fans will be heading to Melbourne for the Australian Open, which will feature all the top players, including British favourite Andy Murray.
