Travellers who want a truly Australian experience during a trip down under should consider booking flights to Perth, one travel expert has advised.

People who want to visit Australia but do not know where to start in the vast country should think about hopping on flights to Perth, one tourism professional has claimed.

Described as “the gateway to the west coast”, Perth is the ideal location from which to begin exploring this part of Australia, Elen Thomas, UK PR manger for Tourism Western Australia explained.

According to Ms Thomas, fewer tourists currently head to the country’s largest state, which means visitors can “have better contact and relationships with the locals”.

“You can actually feel like you’ve seen Australia and you’ve met Australians,” she stated.

The tourism board in Western Australia stressed that there are plenty of natural wonders for holidaymakers to take in.

These include Ningaloo Reef and the Bungle Bungle Range, which is located in the Purnululu National Park.

Ms Thomas suggested that one of the best ways to discover all that the region has to offer is to hire a car or campervan to access all of the exciting destinations in Western Australia.
